With a storied history of delivering engineering excellence, the design and construction of Mitsubishi’s office fit out in western Sydney coincides with 149 years of legacy-building. With innovation underpinning every area of the client’s work it was important to reference and juxtapose the progressive nature of the business against references to the company’s origins.

Happily, clean lines and subtle statements around efficiency never go out of style and so, we were able to integrate subtle cues that allude to Japanese culture while paying homage to the industry and industriousness synonymous with the name. From judicious backlighting to black framed meeting rooms and doors, the look and feel is understated with an undercurrent of dynamism accentuating the forward-thinking nature of the business.

For all the clean lines and industrial references, the opportunity to add lush highlights to a timeless look and feel were not ignored. The generous and welcoming reception area is flanked by live flora, mirroring the overhead adornment in the breakout space. The featured fins in reception highlight a sense of innovation whilst capturing the company’s heritage.
