Redefining contemporary office content
What does it look like when an internationally recognised brand not only tells the world that functional aesthetics can go hand-in-hand with environmental consciousness but proves it across a multi-functional space? BBC Worldwide ANZ continues a rich tradition of quality content production and wanted to set a new benchmark for brand-fit cross-functionality and interactivity within its new Sydney office. The building’s pre-existing internal divide challenged designers to preserve a solid, structural feel whilst opening up opportunities for interactivity, quiet workspaces and specialist environments. Diversity and pragmatism guided design discussions, arriving at an environmental concept that seamlessly accommodated features unique to BBCW’s industry. The design accommodates the 100m2 data room, spacious, multipurpose style homages to New York-inspired warehouse architecture and purpose-built screening, recording and editing facilities. An inviting, earthy finish comprising exposed ceilings, timber clad walls and polished, concrete flooring welcomes visitors, clients and employees alike, whilst announcing the benefits of “pre-cooling” concepts throughout. In short, BBC Worldwide’s office demanded more from the design team – use less construction materials, reduce waste and energy to deliver a brand fit base from which to build on a lasting legacy of premium content. Done.
